Went to the bluefin tuna live cutting. It was a fantastic experience with great prices on bluefin $30 for 6 pieces. Fish was caught 1 day before in Ensenada. Super fresh! During the event you are able to order off the regular menu too. I've been to almost all the other shin sen gumi and this one has the best Ramen. Parking is metered. Lots of indoor tables. Clean restrooms. Super nice staff. Would definitely come here again

Been coming here for almost 10 years. My absolute favorite ramen in LA. I had the Hakata Ramen as its nut and shellfish free so safe for my allergies. I added pork belly as an extra topping. Portions are large definitely worth the price. Service was fast and everyone was super friendly. It always feels like home here.

I'm thrilled that this location has started offering their yakitori program, saving me the drive to their original spot in Gardena. While I was sad to see my favorite ramen spot transition, I was curious if they might still serve ramen alongside the yakitori menu. To my delight, ramen is indeed still on the menu. However, I noticed a decline in consistency. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked. For me, the perfect texture of Hakata-style thin straight noodles--with just the right amount of bite--is a key part of the experience. Timing is everything especially with this style of ramen; I usually finish a bowl within three minutes to avoid the noodles becoming too soft in the broth. No talking or checking the phone. I truly hope they can master serving both yakitori and ramen. Which can be challenging with timings. If not, it might be better to focus on one and remove ramen from the menu.

I wanted to visit this restaurant since they started serving YAKITORI. Finally I had chance to be there. My husband and I sat down the counter because we wanted to see their items. They have special opening deal. 50% off with draft beer. Great! We had many skewers like liver, heart, cartridge, gizzard, and more. Everything was so delicious. Omer who grilled our skewers was very friendly and professional. We also had a hakata ramen and gyoza. I love gyoza with garlic and their gyoza is perfect. Everyone works here is very friendly and polite. I have known ShinSenGumi for over 25 years. I know Mr.Shigeta when he was grilling skewers in Gardena location. I'm so happy that this west LA location serves YAKITORI now. I was not sure if I put 5 stars or 4. Only my disappointment was the intestine was overly cooked. Maybe I ask chef to less grilled next time. Overall we were very satisfied and happy! Oh, and their bathroom was very clean which is important to me. We definitely come back :-)

A SHIN-SEN-GUMI in Sawtelle is very much appreciated. We found an available metered street parking on the other side of Olympic Blvd very easily. There was no line to get in, we were seated at a vacant table immediately, and were given water on our tables right away. Their Curry Chicken Katsu is super delicious. The Hakata Ramen is super affordable. Servers are super friendly.

Shin Sen Gumi is a really awesome Ramen shop down towards the end of Sawtelle. So parking is a bit easier and there is a lot less foot traffic. The food is affordable and the service rocks. It has great feel to the inside and they do there best to make it feel like they transported you to Japan. The classic Hakata Ramen and The Spicy Dan Dan Men are my go to but the Dan Dan is my favorite. It has great flavor and just the right amount of spice. Would definitely recommend it. The gyoza is always cooked well and tastes good. The curry was so flavorful and the rice was cooked well I would also recommend trying the curry from there.
